Buiding a grasshopper part 1

Part 2 - Part 3
started at the end of the year 2005
Sideview I started with some drawings in autocad.

The idea was 2 times 6 mm (1/4")plywood for the floor with
30 mm (1 1/4")isolation.
The sides from 4 mm (1/6") plywood inside and 6 mm outside with 20 mm (3/4") isolation. Allu. plate over the outside to keep the water out.
Body weight without chassis, wheels and axle 160 kg

Then I made an estmate in OpenOffice (in Dutch) download here.
Topview In Autocad I made drawings on scale 1:1.
and I made a saw plan for al the parts.
With that plan I went to the local woodshop "Multimate" in Maassluis and payed them 1000 Euro to do the hard work.

That was WRONG!

The 2 sides, the inner and outer wall, 4 big plates plywood wood be almost identicall.

NO WAY

Of the 8 saw incisions 1 was not cut at all and 4 other incisions where wrong
The highest point was 1.5 cm to low so the roof is almost flat.
The plan was a 3 degree sloppe so the rain water wood run off easy.

In the end I had to do the saw work myself.
And I had to do a bit of fiddeling to make the things fit.

So I ended with a bit lower roof than I had planed

xxxxx This is the gagage box were the work is done, you can see why they call it a BOX.

But luckely I'm a "DR Who" fan. and this box is my "TARDIS"

If you do not understand this; look for "DR Who" BBC cult.

xxxxx According to our Prime Minister I'm not out of a job, I'm BETWEEN jobs. :-)

That is THE way to solve the unemployed problem. What an ASS.... .

But it does explane how al that work was done in 1 month.
Sorry, but no other photo's where made, because off rain fall.
and inside the box it is just to small.

The use of glue (polyurethaan) made it important that the temp. stayed above 5 celcius, 41 fahrenheit.
I keep it on 10 celcius, 50 fahrenheit that made the glue hard after 20 hours.

xxxxx Here is a look see, the grasshopper has not jet wheels so I move it on small carts.
The wide and inside hight is 60" the lenght is 115" or what I normaly use 1.5 mtr. and 2.8 mtr.
xxxxx Rear side view, here the carts are in plane view.

More photos and beter html code will follow, WHEN AND IF.

Do I have to tell you to click on the small photos to see a bigger one?

When  I got to this stage I found a more than fulltime job

so progres is very slow from now on.
