Building a grasshopper part 3
part 1 - part 2
|
| In the spring of 2007 we got to this point. |

|
It took a bit longer an amphib got in the way of finishing the grasshopper.
We where planning to use the amphib for the holiday but there ware so
many flaws like an over heating engine and a big hole low on the water line.
Anyway I worked like mad to get "Cal Coen" ready
"Cal Coen" is a odd spelling
of Turkey in Dutch, because it looks more like a Turkey than like a Grasshopper,
|

|
First trip, beds are ready gas is cooking but the water not jet running.
the bed is 190 X 150 cm and in night mode we stil can use the toilet and the kichen
|

|
If I had only more time before the holiday to get it "more" ready.
But it will have a 12 V battery, running water and shutters for the window.
Then test it on a 5000 km trip
|
 |
The test went well we towed her over a few mountains |
 |
Through the snow |
 |
Over narrow roads
and did a few things you can not do with a normal caravan
(camper trailer)
like very small streets in very old villages |
 |
Using the kitchen one does in a sitting position. It has 2 doors to store pottery and food for a week below that just outside the photo a large drawer for kitchen needs, forks, knives and etc. below that is storage for shoes and the 72 Ah battery |
 | They look like they were designed for each other. ;-) |
 | A look on the storage on the right side |
 | Storage on the left side from the left to the right
closet for hanging clothes with on the left a few shelves for clothing below that storage for the chem toilet under the seat a flap to store things you do not need so fast in plan view the controls of the battery charger below that a drawer for things you need fast. |
 | View of the front with the table The seats in front have 2 flaps left one for more spare clothing right one for sleeping bags and pillows |
|
Never ready!
Many small improvement to make.
a few things to change: the wast water tank
bigger water tank 40 l -- done rain protection in front and the left of the awning -- done
72 Ah battery -- done
30 % more horses on the tow vehicle
