The major/minor wheel
assemblies are custom made, via casting and machining.
The three-star-wheel system was invented by Lockheed.
This fully functioning amphibious creation has cost about $300.000.
The basic chassis is stock, the engine is a Ford 390 industrial gasoline
(benzine) motor, transmission is an Allison automatic, axles are probably
Rockwell. Hydraulic pump is probably Eaton.
It does 60 km/h on road.
Pedalling with the three-star-wheel system the water speed is 5 knots, 6.75 mph/h, 10.6 km/h
Special gimmick:
The middle part is made out of gum,
so it has a strange torsion ability!
The via rotating star wheel system also allows the vehicle to climb over fallen trees etc..
All 12 wheels are driven !!!
(But it is an 8 WD because 4 have no road contact)
The Landmaster is on display in a film studio museum, but I have heard that
the rubber section between the two parts of the vehicle has deteriorated a lot.
In the Movie Dino Island the Landmaster appears in the pre show
as the vehicle of the "Science Team".
Very probable but unconfirmed;
In the TV series Ark II, the Landmaster has a small guest role.
