DRAKE XM-157 prototype
Drake XM-157 prototype All pictures where taken by Bob Rose in 1974.

Bob says about the pictures:

This is a real DRAKE! Guess where I found it, of all places? Good ole' Detroit, Michigan.

This was one of the experiments from the Tank Automotive Command in Detroit (test vehicle). It's sitting at a place called "Silverstein's Surplus" which, unfortunately, no longer exists (and neither does the DRAKE).

Drake XM-157 prototype JohnC has emailed the following. (9 Jan 2003)

I was stationed at Fort Story, from 1971 to 1973.
Many old amphibious vehicles were partially buried on the beach.
I remember seeing the derelict fibreglass hull of a Drake.

Drake XM-157 prototype The fibreglass hull that JohnC writes about can be a prototype or just be an aluminium hull where the true info is forgotten in the time that has gone by.

UPdate:
80% that this was the hull of the Gull prototype.
