When we were preparing to leave Fort Storey, Virginia, to go to Taiwan, we drove the BARCs down to Little Creek Naval Base where the BARCs were picked up (needed a 100-ton crane) and deck-loaded on civilian cargo ships and transported to Subic Bay Naval Base, Philippines, which had the only 100-ton crane available in the South Pacific.
